Welcome letter

Welcome to the municipality of Hilvarenbeek!

Dear new resident(s),

Welcome to our beautiful municipality. Hilvarenbeek has great amenities and is located in a beautiful, green environment. The municipality consists of six villages where people of all ages can work and live comfortably. Our residents are hospitable and love to help new people on their way in our society. I’ve experienced this myself.

Collaboration and organisational skills are very important here: we call that ‘The power of togetherness’. This letter includes a voucher you can use to request a welcome bag from your village support officer. In this bag you will find information about local entrepreneurs and their products as well as information about social organizations. I invite you to connect with the wonderful initiatives in our municipality.

This English version of our letter also includes a separate list of the most important organisations for non-Dutch speakers. If you have difficulty reading Dutch, we hope this will help you get started.

I hope you will really enjoy living here.

Evert Weys, Mayor Municipality Hilvarenbeek

Which matters can you arrange with the municipality?
You can arrange the most important matters online at our website: www.hilvarenbeek.nl. You can make appointments to renew your passport or identity card there, for example. The fastest way to make such an appointment is on www.hilvarenbeek.nl/afspraak. You can also apply for permits and subsidies through our website. Do you have a question about healthcare or income? You’ll find information on this topic on our website too.

Report something
If something is broken in your neighbourhood or there is a loose paving stone, for example, you can report it with the FIXI app. If there is a dangerous situation, such as a fallen tree or a hole in the road, phone your municipality to make an urgent report. The number for this is (013) 505 83 00. This number can also be reached after office hours.

Waste
Collection service Remondis collects the waste in this municipality. You are provided with one container for residual waste and one for organic waste. If your home has not been provided with containers, you can request them at our FIXI desk. You pay a fixed levy for waste collection every year. And there is also a charge every time your container is collected. Wastepaper will be collected once a month. It may either be picked up by an association or you can drop it off at a central point in your area, depending on your address. If you’d like more information, please go to www.hilvarenbeek.nl/afval
